All tiny creatures are adorable, but this miniature horse baby is literally melting hearts all over the internet. While chasing the farm’s owner, the three days old Sammy seems to have the time of its life. Of course, it all happens under his mom’s supervision, Grace, who’s carefully watching the adorable scene.
Miniature horses are very friendly and they really enjoy the human presence. That's why they're frequently kept as pets. They are also used as emotional support animals. And recently the U.S. Department of Transportation added these adorable creature to the list of service animals that are allowed to fly on any airline.
Did you know that mini horse use increased after the 1842 Mine and Collieries Act, when the UK forbade the use of children as mine workers? They were also popular amongst nobility as pets.
"In this Final Statement, after reviewing the comments on this issue, we believe that it would be in the public interest and within our discretionary authority to prioritize ensuring that the most commonly recognized service animals (i.e., dogs, cats, and miniature horses) are accepted for transport," the U.S. Department of Transportation says.
And if you ever wondered how it's possible these adorable creatures even exist, well it seems they date back to the 16th century as a result of a selective breeding and they were initially used as pets by the Europe's nobility. Miniature horses can heigh up to 38 inches with a lifespan of 25 to 30 years.
