Meet this Miko, a 4-month fox color “pink champagne”. Fox this color were first bred on the Canadian farm, one hundred years ago. They are so rare species that currently exist in the world only two such individuals: one lives in Ontario, and the other is Miko. Such foxes bred in captivity and contain only as pets in Canada. Attention sensitive souls, we prefer to warn you: this story is very sad and it ends badly. It also risks awakening in you a certain despair the human race.
Magnificent white fox destined to end up flayed and transformed into a fur coat, Miko was saved, to end his life tragically. Do we still need proof of human cruelty and imbecility? However, it deserves to be told, in memory of Miko and his fellows, all those foxes who like him end up the slaughterhouse. It was told to us by Anda Ciurezu, the woman who tried by all means to save him. Here is Miko. He was a beautiful fox, with pristine white fur, sumptuous blue eyes and an all pink muzzle. Its story is both beautiful and tragic. Miko was born in Canada, on a fur farm. Like all of his siblings, as well as the other fox cubs on the farm, he was meant to be killed, skinned, and then made into a cloak.
However, it was bought by a lady who wanted to make it into a pet, saving her life. Finally, his happiness was short-lived: neglected and badly treated by this person who did not know how to take care of him, he had become aggressive, was wary of humans ... Normal for a wild animal, which should never have been. live elsewhere than in the forest. The woman who had rescued him from the doom that awaits the breeding foxes now wanted to get rid of him, and wanted to kill him because she did not know what to do with him. It was then that he was saved a second time by a young Montrealer, Anda Ciurezu, who adopted him so that he would be spared from the slaughterhouse again.
When the young woman brings Miko back to her home, she realizes that the latter had 3 broken teeth, and was terrified of humans. Obviously, he had also been abused by his previous "savior". Well aware of the burden and difficulty of living with a wild animal, Anda wanted to donate it to a wildlife sanctuary, but none of those around her wanted to, for a very reason. simple: Miko did not have the red color of a real wild fox.
She was therefore obliged to keep him, because as a farm animal Miko would never have survived alone in the wild. At first, Anda says, the first few months were very difficult. "I had scars all over my legs and arms. But it was totally worth it, "she explains. Over time, he starts to trust her. And after a few months, he was sleeping in the young student's bed, and they were able to play together.
The young woman and her fox quickly became inseparable. The young woman and her fox then decides to put Miko's beautiful eyes at the service of the animal cause! AInsi, Anda and Miko give lectures to raise awareness about the cruelty and mistreatment of animals on fur farms. She goes to exhibitions with him, she visits schools, she continues to fight and campaign for animal rights. Articles in magazines, and even a CBC documentary, "The World of Exotic Pets", are devoted to him, in order to highlight their work in raising awareness to campaign against fur farms.
And then, on February 4, 2015, there was a tragedy. While she's in progress, someone steals the fox. When Anda returns home, she finds the planks of her shed torn off, and the fox missing. The beautiful animal's bloodied corpse will be found in a black garbage bag in the backyard of a property. "That day, everyone stopped," Anda tells us in her message to the editor. Miko was my pillar, my hope, my best friend. He taught me so much, without speaking… " Was this foolish murder the work of the people who get rich in the animal fur trade? A story of jealousy, a person who wanted to hurt him? Or is it simply the work of a madman? We may never know. A criminal investigation has been opened by the Montreal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
