Steve started adopting animals in need after one of his dogs passed away. He decided to do something to commemorate his pup, so he went to his local shelter and asked for the "least adoptable" senior dog. He wanted to give this dog a chance at having a good life because he was overlooked and couldn't find a forever home.
(Months kept passing after Steve Greig's beloved dog died, but he still felt crushed) "So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua [named Eeyore] with a heart murmur and four bad knees and I brought him home and that was just the beginning of all the animals," Steve told The Dodo.
Grieg was used to the responsibility and enjoyed taking care of animals, so he continued to take in more and more animals from shelters. And now, he has 10 senior dogs, a pig named Bikini, as well as two ducks, pigeons, cats and a few chickens. He has no more space for pets at the moment, but he will adopt more senior dogs in the future. His schedule is filled with walks in the park, trips to the vet, grooming appointments… and lots of love and cuddles. "A normal day for me is getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning and making breakfast for all of them, which, you know, there's 10 [dogs] and most of of them have different diets," he said. He also has an Instagram account (instagram.com/wolfgang2242) with over 800.000 followers, where he often uploads cute pictures and videos of his pets. People from around the world follow his family and look forward to the updates and pictures. Steve is glad his page can show people how great it can be to adopt senior animals. "They're just wiser animals," Steve said. "You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it's easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are. It's just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well-taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile."
"I decided that the only way I would feel better was if something good happened that probably wouldn't have happened if he had not died"

Greig even comes back from work during lunch time to let them outside and give treats
While he's away, the lovely crowd has time to express themselves…
