Newfoundlands are enormous. They stand at around 27-30 inches tall and can weigh as much as 150 pounds. Aside from their large size, they’re also known to have large coats, which make them look even more formidable.
They got their name from Newfoundland which is a Canadian island. Fishermen made these dogs their favorite pets and companions since they can swim really well due to their slightly webbed feet.
They’re also strong enough to save fishermen if they’re drowning. The dogs’ impressive survival and rescue skills, while also being adaptable and really loyal, make them ideal house pets.
