Traffic at the border crossing between the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia can be quite unbearable, even for a fearless tiger. While waiting in line, passengers in a vehicle noticed a tiger running down the highway. The tiger managed to escape the watchful eye of its caretaker to explore the world independently, in true cat fashion.
Stunned motorists looked on as the predator prowls between vehicles. They couldn’t help but reach for their phones, as a tiger got loose on the busy highway in Qatar. Though is not yet known where the tiger escaped from, local media have reported the endangered big cat appears to be an escaped pet which is seen with a broken chain attached to its neck. One video captured by a motorist a few cars away shows the confused tiger cub running between two lanes of traffic. It then goes to run in front of a vehicle in the middle lane before pausing and walking right up to the filmmaker’s car.
It’s illegal to keep wild animals
The Gulf state’s interior ministry posted in Arabic on Twitter that it was following up on reports of the loose tiger but has not confirmed any further details. It wrote: “We assure everyone that the authorities are following what has been circulating (on social media) regarding a tiger being seen in specific areas of the country.” Although it is illegal to keep wild animals like tigers and lions as pets, but it’s not uncommon for residents to do so, reported Doha News. According to Doha News, the owner of the wild animal could face a maximum of six months in prison. Of course, the moment wouldn’t be realistic if it wasn’t recorded on video. Watch this stunned moment! Thankfully, the owner caught up with the big cat and managed to direct it back to safety.
