Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, the photo competition celebrating funny antics of animals in the wild and comic scenes in their lives, has announced the amusing winners for this year. The overall winner for 2020, @ComedyWildlife has been awarded to Mark Fitzpatrick for the photo ‘Terry the Turtle flipping the bird’, which was selected from more than 7,000 entries.
Mark captured the image when he was swimming with the turtles off Lady Elliot Island in Queensland, Australia. He managed to catch the moment when Terry's flipper is pulling back as he swims towards the camera, making it appear as if the turtle is actually flipping Mark the bird and means it. Scroll down and check out all of this year's hilarious winners.

Highly Commended: "Fun For All Ages" By Thomas Vijayan. The contest also awards various category winners (people's choice, animals in the land, creatures of the air, internet portfolio, junior and video) and 10 Highly Commended Winners. In addition to providing some light-hearted relief, the competition aims to highlight the desperately vital message of wildlife conservation in an engaging and positive way, working with The Born Free Foundation, the main competition partner. "Shooting the most common is the most challenging thing," says Thomas Vijayan. "Langurs are very common, but waiting for a right moment needs lots of patience. A playful monkey with its family is a special frame for me."

Tough Negotiations" By Ayala Fishaimer. "I was came across a foxes den while I was traveling, looking for some nature, in the nearby fields. I spent an entire magical morning with four cute fox cubs. At some point I noticed that one of the cubs start sniffing around, and a seconds after, he pulled this shrew (which he probably hid there earlier) out of the sand and started playing with it. after a while, the fox cub stood on the stone and threw the shrew in the air .. the shrew landed in such a way that it seemed as if they were having a conversation, and he is asking the fox "Please don't kill me" It's actually reminded me of a scene from 'The Gruffalo' story …"
"It's A Mocking Bird" By Sally Lloyd-Jones. Founders Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks started the contest to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. They hope the pictures encourage people to shop responsibly, be mindful of their water use, and speak out about environmental issues … in addition to making people laugh. Together, they hope to highlight the importance of wildlife conservation in an engaging and positive way along with their main competition partner, the Born Free Foundation. "People in lockdown have found time to either take new images of their local wildlife or have found the time to wrestle through years of images stuck on hard drives. It has made our lockdown much more manageable, and as a small team, we have been able to maintain continual contact via video calls to keep the competition on the right track."
Amazing Internet Portfolio Award Winner: "Deadly Fart" By Daisy Gilardini. Tom firmly believes that the entries get better and better with each and every year. This year, in particular, there have been more images than ever. "The winner, however, is never obvious at any stage of the competition! The judges are remarkably different in how they judge the humor of an image. The technical side of the photography is taken care of by Paul and myself and we then ask the judges to score the final images on humor!" Tom shared.
pectrum Photo Creatures In The Air Award Winner: "Hide And Seek" By Tim Hearn. Animal: Azure Damselfly, Location: Devon, UK. "As this Azure damselfly slowly woke up, he became aware of my presence. I was lined up to take a profile picture of his wings and body, but quite sensibly the damsel reacted to the human with the camera by putting the marsh grass stem between me and it. I took the shot anyway. It was only later that I realized how characterful it was. And how much the damselfly looks like one of the muppets."
"The race" ©️ Yevhen Samuchenko / Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards 2020. Highly Commended. Animal: Langur, Location of shot: Hampi, India. "My friends and I walked in the center of the small town of Hampi in India. There was a bicycle parking nearby. Suddenly a flock of langurs jumped on these bicycles and began to frolic. We were afraid to frighten them away, I started taking pictures from afar, but then we came very close to them and the langurs continued to play with bicycles."
Highly Commended: "Monkey Business" By Megan Lorenz. "Monkey Business" ©️ Megan Lorenz / Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards 2020. Highly Commended. Animal: Pig-Tailed Macaques, Location: Kinabatangan River in Borneo, Malaysia. "While on a trip to Borneo, I had many opportunities to watch monkeys interacting with each other. These Pig-Tailed Macaques showed me a bit more than I bargained for! Don't blame me…I just take the photos, I can't control the wildlife! So many titles came to mind for this photo but I went with the safe 'family-friendly' option and called it 'Monkey Business'.
