When Yesenia DelaCueva rescued a tiny little kitten, she was initially reluctant to name it.
She thought that if she named the sweet little stray, which had already nestled itself deeply into her heart, she would never be able to let it go.
And oh, how right she was!
DelaCueva, who is from California, spotted the little stray as she was driving home from work one day. At first, she thought that someone and thrown an old t-shirt on the street, but something convinced her to stop and take a closer look.
And by doing so, she no doubt saved a life. Because the “t-shirt” turned out to be a poor little stray desperate need of help.
The tiny cat was covered in fleas and had a bad limp. DelaCueva watched the kitten drag her leg behind her as she walked and her heart broke for the little girl.
DelaCueva gently picked up the poor kitten and wrapped her up in a blanket. The little cat didn’t protest; perhaps she knew that she was finally safe.
DelaCueva then brought the kitten home with her, where she gave the flea-ridden girl a well-needed bath before tucking her into bed. Now, DelaCueva had to figure out what to do next.
DelaCueva had never had a cat before, and she was just about to move to the east coast, so adopting a little kitten was definitely not part of her life plan.
So although the kitten was already making its way into her heart, DelaCueva desperately tried to fight the inevitable.
She reached out on Facebook in the hopes of finding a family for the kitten, and she even visited a shelter to see if they could take her.
But when the shelter told her that they didn’t have room for another cat, DelaCueva finally accepted what she already knew; the cat was meant to live with her.
DelaCueva named the kitten Bella and set out to make all the necessary preparations for the big move. She got Bella checked out by a vet and got her prepped and ready for the coming plane ride.
