Photographers are lucky because they are able to see what goes on behind this modern world that we live in. Many of them are able to see amazing creatures in the wild. One of them is Tim Newton. He is an Alaska-based photographer. Where he’s at gives him the chance to photograph some rare animals. But that does not happen all the time. He has to go out and look for his subjects.
Then something happened in September 2017… When Newton woke up, he realized that he doesn’t have to go out looking for an animal subject to photograph that day. Simply because the animals that are worthy to be photographed with appeared right to his doorstep! One cold September morning, Tim heard strange noises on his back porch. He went to check on it and he was shocked with what he saw – three lynx kittens playing on his porch. This does not happen all the time so he quickly grabbed his camera and snapped pictures of them. But he only got a few then the kittens ran off. He was quite disappointed knowing that lynxes don’t usually come near humans. Then a few minutes later, the three kittens came back. But this time, Tim noticed that they were more than three. It seemed like they invited over the rest of their family to meet Tim. Tim decided to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience on his website, Rugged Alaska. He wrote: “It was then I saw the mother lynx, calling to her kits… SEVEN KITTENS! My camera started to click, and they all looked up to see what that strange-looking noise was! From there, they proceeded to play and frolic on the deck, and then in the yard.” He said that he just watched these amazing animals in awe. The little kittens started playing on his deck furniture. They ran around the grass and were clearly enjoying themselves. Then after a while of playing, the lynx mother called the little ones and they all ran off back to where they all came from. Lynxes are naturally shy animals and they would instantly skitter away the moment they catch a glimpse of humans. So Tim made sure to capture good photographs of them that he can share with the world. He knew that this will happen again so he made the most out of this moment. Then a month later, the lynx family is back on his deck again! These animals surely loved to hang around in their porch and yard and Tim doesn’t mind at all. This time, Tim’s wife was able to capture the lynx on video during their visit. The lynx was playing happily and carefree and it is just so heartwarming to watch. After the second visit, the Lynx family visited Tim’s home again a few more times – once in November, then in December, and another in January 2018. And this was their last visit. And every time they come around, Tim and his wife made sure to capture images of them. Tim’s backyard would also be visited by other animals, like moose during the spring of 2018. There was also a time that he was visited by a black bear with her two cubs. There is no doubt that these animals are loving to hang out in Tim’s backyard. But Tim is hoping that the lynx family would come to visit his home again in the near future.
