Labrador Retrievers Rank As The Most Popular Dogs For The 29th Year In A Row
Labrador Retrievers are continuing their winning streak as America’s favourite dog breed for the 29th straight year.
The beautiful breed has been ranked at the very top of the American Kennel Club registry list for nearly three decades – a truly impressive record.
No other breed has been able to stay in first place for that long, but it’s actually no wonder that the Labrador Retriever keeps winning year after year.

The Labrador retriever is a highly versatile breed that is suitable for hunting, tracking, obedience training, showing and dock diving, and they also make great family dogs.

The other breeds in the top ten of the registry list are, in descending order; German Shepherd Dog, Golden Retriever, Fench Bulldog, Bulldog, Poodle, Beagle, Rottweiler, German Shorthaired Pointer and Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

The top three breeds have all been fan favourites for many years now, and its no surprise that they’ve been able to stay on top for so long; they are all versatile and, most importantly, friendly and loyal dogs.

The Labrador Retriever was first registered as an official breed by the AKC in 1917, and are known for their stable, gentle and friendly temperament. They’re also active and energetic dogs who are always up for some exercise or active play.

They are also very intelligent and receptive to training, which makes them great for hunting. And, they’ve been bred to have a “soft mouth” which lets them retrieve downed birds without damaging them.
