Lizzie and Phantom are currently recovering in an outdoor koala ward within the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. They’re doing swimmingly; Phantom is both gaining weight and exploring his temporary habitat. And of course, mama and baby are sharing more adorable cuddles!
The love between a mother and her children is the strongest power on Earth. Animal moms are attached and devoted to their young ones the same way the humans are. Regardless the species, a mother will always be a mother. And this koala mom-baby duo proves it.
After an accident Lizzie and her baby Phantom were transferred to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. While the little koala did not suffer any injuries, his mom had to undergo a surgery.
And the most heart-melting part was when the 6-month-old joey stayed by his mother's side during the surgery. The vet realized it would be for the best if they let them stick to each other and provide comfort, because splitting them could easily traumatize them and make them anxious.
Native to Australia, koalas are pretty asocial animals. The only bond is between babies and their moms. And how the video show it, their bond is incredible! Watch the touching encounter bellow.
