This is a relatively easy two-needle pattern.
The pattern is worked in a multiple of 21 plus 3 stitches. The instructions on the holders should be repeated once for every 21 stitches.
The only unusual part of the pattern is the collection stitch, shown in the drawing below, which consists of a simple, clockwise wrapping of a designated group of stitches.
Special instructions: As shown in the drawing below, the purl wrap (P4 wrap) is worked as follows:
Make 4 stitches, move from the right hand needle to a double pointed needle and keep them separate from the two knitting needles.
Wrap the knitting yarn around the 4 stitches counterclockwise (covering the mortar surface first).
Make 3 full wraps. Return the stitches to the right needle and continue the row.
The sample was worked in 68 stitches: 3 repetitions plus 3 stitches, plus 1 stitch on each side for a garter belt.
