Dogs have such a wonderful protective instinct. They have a way to perceive that a person is at risk and they intervene without hesitation to save the day.
This was the case with a loyal German Shepherd who was helping its owner in a disturbing encounter with a “strange man” who was following her.
According to Liverpool Echo, 40-year-old Lorraine Scott from Wirral, England, took her German Shepherd Toby to the beach early one morning.
But their morning run took a surprising turn. Arriving at the beach, she found herself alone, except for the ‘strange man’ who got out of his car and approached her.
She looked around and recalled a man who was turning towards her, which she said was “frightening.” “I started to get really flustered and just froze,” she told Liverpool Echo. “I couldn’t really do anything, I just froze.” The man started approaching, but luckily Lorraine had a faithful dog with her. Feeling afraid of his master and feeling that this person could be a threat, Toby began barking frantically at the stranger. It worked: the bark of the dog scared potential attackers. “The man jumped immediately, returned to the car immediately, and drove away the car .”
“I am really happy that my defender was with me. He is a natural guard dog and because of our bond, he will always protect me.” The meeting shocked Lorraine. She says the area seems mostly safe and she usually goes for morning jogging with her husband. “I’ve been to this beach before and it’s never been like this, and it’s never unusual for people to park there because there are always people sleeping there in tents,” Lorraine said. She shared the story on Facebook, asking others to see if there were any suspicious strangers around. She depicted a man with shaved hair, blonde hair, and black sportswear, about 5’8” tall. “I hope this post has made people aware of strange things and made them especially wary,” she told Echo. Despite the horrific ordeal, she can only thank Toby for saving the situation. “I’m so glad the German Shepherd protected me.” Thank you Toby for protecting your master! You are a true hero!
