A teacher who had taken a wrong turning was treated to the spectacular sight of thousands of starlings flying together through the sky.
Sweeping up and down and round and round, the birds ebb and flow into incredible shapes in the mesmerising footage. Guy Warren, from Huddersfield, was treated to the hypnotic display, known as a murmuration, while driving to a business trip to Anglesey in North Wales.

The 56-year-old said there were around 'three to four thousand' starlings in the murmuration, which he filmed while standing next to his car. He said: 'It all happened by surprise because I missed my usual turning off the A55 and had to take an alternative route close to Llyn Maelog.

Mr Warren described seeing the starlings pulling off it sub-groups before rejoining the main one. This is typical behaviour during a murmuration, and is thought to be used to deter predators.
