A Very Unique Encounter With A Heart-Shaped Face Wolf

It happens extremely rare for a wild animal to be born with unique markings. And when it does it’s usually in its disadvantage. Animals born with different fur coats(albino animals in particular) are frequently rejected by the group. On the other hand being different makes them extremely vulnerable for predators due to their inability to camouflage.

However, the Finnish wilderness hides a very unique creature – an extremely beautiful heart-shaped face wolf. And one lucky wildlife photographer had an intimate encounter with the elusive creature. Deep in the North European wilderness, the Finish based photographer, Niko Pekonen came face to face with this mythological creature.

The animal's fur isn't much different from any other wolves, but its face perfectly reassembles a heart. Its grey to white coat come nearly to its cheeks making its face makes so unique. Although extremely rare, these unique markings have a lot to do with genetics.

The grey wolf or canis lupus is one of the largest land predators in Eurasia and North America. At least thirty subspecies of it are known and that is why its body weight can range from 66 lbs to 176lbs. The females can barely reach 121 lbs though.
