Niche decoration; It is a traditional architectural element from ancient times to the present day
Its main purpose is a systematic decoration made in order to store the necessary materials or to gain a separate functionality by opening holes in the wall.
The wall niche, or in other words a recess in the wall, is a small corner that can have many functions. We have all these little corners in our living room, bathroom, bedroom or elsewhere that you never know what to do with!
The possibilities of designing and decorating a wall niche are numerous. First of all, you have to ask yourself: do we need additional storage space, or do we want to decorate these small empty spaces? We can, of course, do both at the same time if the size of the space allows it and if we want it.
Wall niches are often located in an inconvenient space: at the entrance, under the stairs, in the shower stall or elsewhere. Finally, when we say "impractical", this does not mean that these spaces can not be made useful! Arranging a dressing room or additional storage under the stairs, if possible, is a wonderful idea for those who want to maximize every little corner of their home.
In the kitchen, the wall niches are used to store practical and decorative objects: utensils, pots, containers, dishes, flowers and herbs pot and many more. Look at this beautiful industrial style kitchen whose niche has been transformed into designer storage shelves:
Often, the wall niche can be integrated and transformed into a worktop and backsplash. This was the case of the kitchen photographed below:
In the dining room, the niches are also transformed into shelves that allow the storage of dishes and the installation of a plant decoration, for example.
